YYC’s newest runway may be a win for Calgary, but some Airdrie residents are non-too happy with the extra air traffic.Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown says he’s heard concerns from several southeast residents, but notes the community  doesn’t have any control over the noise. He said the airport has assured him they will get back to everyone who phones in concerns to their hotline.Terry Thompson, director of Environmental Services for the Calgary Airport Authority said they have been talking to communities which would be effected by the new flight paths for the past couple years.“But you never really get to understand the impact until it first starts operating aircraft from that runway and to that runway, so we’re definitely ahead in anticipating increased community concern.”Thompson said the number one agenda item when the Airport Authority meets in the fall, will be to review the new runway’s operations.
