George Ballance, commander, U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/4th Fleet, said:2015 marks the 56th iteration of the UNITAS exercises, in which the U.S. Navy and our partner nation navies train together to enhance interoperability and theater security cooperation. This exercise, offers all of the participating nations an opportunity to enhance a cooperative maritime strategy that is in all of our best interests.UNITAS 56-15 is scheduled to begin in early November off the coast of Brazil with participants from Brazil, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Senegal, Honduras, Cameroon and the United States Navy.The purpose of the conference was to define the schedule of events, topics, activities and delegate responsibilities in support of UNITAS. Students Board USS Porter for Career Day

first_img October 2, 2015 Authorities The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) hosted a group of 9th and 10th grade students from the International School of Vlore, Albania,  for a career day and cultural learning event, Sept. 26.The community relations (COMREL) event was intended to strengthen relationships with the nation of Albania and give the Sailors and students an opportunity to interact and learn more about each other’s cultures.Sailors led the students on a tour of the ship, displayed different gear and uniform items, answered questions from the students and talked about daily life on a U.S. Navy ship and the different jobs in the Navy. The students were accompanied by some teachers from their school and representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Albania.Porter departed Naval Station Rota, Spain, Jun. 29, 2015, to conduct naval operations with partners and allies in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in order to advance security and stability in Europe.[mappress mapid=”17079″]Image: US Navy Students Board USS Porter for Career Day View post tag: europecenter_img View post tag: USS Porter Back to overview,Home naval-today Students Board USS Porter for Career Day Share this articlelast_img read more
