The app, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Android Market gives voluntary organisations the opportunity to recruit and reward young volunteers free of charge through their mobile phones. The vinspired apps allow young people to search for and find volunteering opportunities via postcode search or GPS, keep a record of what they do and to upload photos their volunteering diary, and to apply for vinspired awards, in recognition of skills gained and benefits to the community, which are endorsed by the CBI, IoD, CIPD & REC.The vinspired iPhone app is already available to download for free from the App Store, and a free BlackBerry app will be launched later this month.v CEO Terry Ryall announced the launch of the apps at Go On: ND11, the National Digital Conference. He said: “The UK has more young people on smartphones than anywhere else in Europe, and for many young people, it’s the main way that they access the internet. We think it’s really important to give charities and voluntary organisations free access to this kind of technology, so that they can reach young people wherever they are. “16-24 year olds are more likely than older people to say that a lack of information stops them from volunteering, so we’re excited to be helping nearly 1000 charities to bring their volunteering opportunities into the mobile space, for free, on the devices that young people use.”http://vinspired.com/about-us/free-volunteering-android-app 74 total views, 1 views today AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to TwitterTwitterShare to FacebookFacebookShare to LinkedInLinkedInShare to EmailEmailShare to WhatsAppWhatsAppShare to MessengerMessengerShare to MoreAddThis Howard Lake | 11 May 2011 | News Tagged with: android app Digital iPhone mobile Volunteering About Howard Lake Howard Lake is a digital fundraising entrepreneur.
